There are seasons of life when everything seems to fall into place.
And then there are seasons when it doesn't.
I've experienced both.
I've learned that strength doesn't always look like having all the answers. Sometimes strength is waking up, putting one foot in front of the other and choosing to keep going—even when life looks nothing like you planned.
Life Happens While We're Making Plans
We can plan our careers, our families, our goals and our futures. But life has a way of reminding us that we aren't in control of every chapter.
People we love need us.
Priorities change.
Doors close.
Unexpected things happen.
And suddenly the things that once felt incredibly important don't seem quite as important anymore.
Those moments have taught me something: success means very little if we aren't present for the people we love.
You Can Be Strong and Still Have Hard Days
I think we sometimes confuse strength with pretending everything is fine.
They're not the same thing.
You can be grateful and overwhelmed.
You can be successful and uncertain.
You can encourage other people while needing encouragement yourself.
You can love your life deeply while admitting that parts of it are hard.
We're human.
Giving ourselves permission to experience every part of life—the beautiful and the difficult—isn't weakness. It's honesty.
Protect What Matters
The older I get, the more I realize that time is one of our greatest gifts.
We can make more money. We can create another business. We can reschedule a meeting.
We cannot manufacture more time with the people we love.
So call your parents.
Have dinner with your family.
Take the trip.
Sit a little longer.
Say "I love you" one more time.
And when life gets difficult, remember that you don't need to know exactly how the story ends to take the next step.
Sometimes thriving isn't about moving faster.
Sometimes it's about understanding what matters enough to slow down.
